Rana was unanimously endorsed for CJ on Tuesday by the parliamentary hearing committee after hearing his answers to the complaints against him.
The parliamentary hearing committee had received several complaints against Rana. The committee on December 13 had invited complaints against Rana after the Constitutional Council recommended him for the post of CJ.
The then CPN-UML and the Maoists, who have now unified to form CPN, had voted against Rana during the hearing to appoint him as SC justice. The then UML lawmaker Ashta Laxmi Shakya during the hearing of Rana for SC justice on May 25, 2014 had asked him how many millions he spent to get recommended for the post.
