The Supreme Court has acquitted former Nepal Police IGP Moti Lal Bohara of corruption charges.
A joint bench of justices Sharada Prasad Ghimire and Purushottam Bhandari on Thursday has overturned the verdict of Special Court given almost seven years ago and given a clean chit to Bohara.
A bench including the then Special Court Chairman Gauri Bahadur Karki had found him guilty of corruption and slapped a jail term of one and half years, and a fine of Rs 2.682 million and an equal amount in claims in April, 2012.
Bohara had then appealed against the verdict in the Apex Court.
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case against him accusing him of amassing illegal wealth amounting Rs 23.80 million abusing authority.
