Contributory Social Security Program comes into force

The contribution-based Social Security Program has come into force from Tuesday. Prime Minister KP Sharma announced the enforcement of the program amidst a special ceremony at the local Nepal Academy. The program aims to make the working class people realize about the guarantee of social justice. With the implementation of the program, workers shall be entitled to medical care; health and safe motherhood facilities and accident security. More, it covers the security of the dependent family and old age security. It is believed that with the implementation of the program, the situation for workers to go home empty-handed after contributing long in the labor market would come to an end. Workers shall get pension following the completion of a certain year in service.
