The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has urged one and all to observe the First Social Security Day as a celebration.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to announce the implementation of contribution-based social security program across the nation simultaneously on Tuesday and the government has decided to observe the same day as the Social Security Day.
The program aims to end the situation forcing workers to return home empty-handed after long contribution to job/labor market.With the enforcement of the program, workers completing a certain year of service will get pension based on contribution.
Ministry's spokesperson Dr Narayan Regmi expressed his hope that the enforcement of the program would mark the beginning of a new era and keep a significant meaning in creating a sustainable, professional atmosphere, healthy labor relations and decent livelihood.
The program covers medical facilities; health and safe motherhood; accident and physical incapacity security and security to dependent family members and the security at old age.
The Article 34 (2) of the Nepal's Constitution has guaranteed that every laborer shall have the right to appropriate remuneration, facilities and contributory social security.
