Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has fallen ill. Oli, who is also chairman of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), gave the tea party hosted in Kathmandu on Saturday by the party to mark the festivals a miss.
“PM Oli could not take part in the tea party due to minor health problems. He is complaining of chest pain and has fever,” CPN General Secretary Bishnu Paudel said.
Another chairman and former PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal, other former PMs Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal, and other leaders greeted the guests and exchanged greetings for the festivals including Dashain, Tihar, Nepal Sambat New Year and Chhath but Oli could not attend the reception.
The party had invited more than 50,000 guests for its annual tea party held immediately after Dashain.
