The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has lodged a corruption case against lawmaker and the then chairman of Pappu Construction Hari Narayan Rauniyar on Friday.
"The case against 12 including lawmaker Rauniyar has been lodged. We will issue arrest warrant on Sunday," Special Court Registrar Bhim Kumar Shrestha told Setopati.
The CIAA has lodged the corruption case against the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) lawmaker, his son Sumit Rauniyar and others at the Special Court after its investigation on complaints that the company used substandard materials in construction of the bridge over Babai river in Bardiya, the bridge looked tilted right from the time of construction and was destroyed immediately after inauguration found them to be guilty.
His House of Representatives (HoR) membership will be on hold if he is arrested on the case as per the legal provision that puts the post of lawmakers on hold following arrest on criminal charges.
The CIAA has lodged cases against 12 including the two Rauniyars. The Rauniyars are accused of causing loss of Rs 192.50 million.
