The central committee meeting called by Nepali Congress (NC) for Friday to discuss suggestions on the proposed party statute has been postponed for Monday.
The meeting has been cancelled as the leaders who had gone to different parts of the country to collect the suggestions have yet to return, NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma told Setopati. "The suggestions collected from different parts of the country have also yet to be integrated," Sharma added.
The meeting was to discuss on the suggestions collected from gatherings at 12 different places in all seven provinces across the country.
Coordinator for the committee to prepare draft statute Purna Bahadur Khadka was scheduled to present the suggestions collected from across the country in the meeting.
The main opposition party is preparing to amend and reform its statute to align it with the federal structure. It has already collected suggestions for the proposed statute convening gatherings across the country from September 24 to 29. The proposed draft includes alternatives like whether to conduct election only for party chairman or for all office-bearers among others.
The central committee will pass the alternatives that receive the highest backings from across the country and present them to the Mahasamiti meeting for decision. The party has convened the Mahasamiti meeting for the third week of November.
