The Development Committee of the parliament on Thursday has directed the government to furnish reasons for appointment of Digambar Jha in Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) within 15 days.
The committee's meeting held at Singha Durbar Thursday morning has instructed the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to answer questions raised about Jha's appointment from different angles.
Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker stated that the government's decision to first stop Jha from working then removing him followed by Jha moving the court against his sacking and then withdrawing the case, and his reappointment by the government has raised suspicions about the decision, and demanded that the committee must be informed about the appointment.
Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Baskota told the committee that all the works have been done following due procedures but did not speak about Jha's appointment. Jha was also present in the meeting and he too did not respond to the questions.
The Cabinet meeting on September 6 appointed Jha as chairman of the NTA for four years.
