Province 1 Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai has said local level representatives owe an important responsibility of taking the people towards the path of prosperity with a successful implementation of the federalism.
Inaugurating Friday the first convention of the National Association of Rural Municipality in Nepal, Province 1 in Itahari, the chief minister called on local representatives to fulfill their responsibility, bearing in mind the need of making the federalism successful.
Enactments of many acts, laws and regulations required for the province to local governments were awaited, he said underlining the need of making maximum utilization of achievements at hand.
Province minister for social development Jeevan Ghimire called on local representatives to develop a habit of working staying amidst the people to avoid possible weaknesses.
Association province 1 coordinator Taranath Kafle presided over the programme.
Mayors and deputy-mayors from 88 local levels of 14 districts under the province 1 are taking part in the event which will end electing a new executive committee for the Association.
