The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the parliament on Wednesday has formed a sub-committee to investigate procurement of two Airbus A330 airplanes by Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).
The PAC, that has already sought all the documents of procurement process, has formed the sub-committee under Rajendra Kumar KC of Nepali Congress (NC) to probe the procurement of wide-body planes.
The sub-committee that also includes Prem Ale, Krishna Lal Maharjan and Dharmashila Chapagai of the ruling CPN, Pradip Yadav of the coalition partner Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, and Mina Subba of NC has been given a deadline of 15 days to complete investigation.
The PAC earlier had sought opinion of the Public Procurement Monitoring Office under the Prime Minister's Office about whether the NAC complied with the Public Procurement Act during the procurement process.
The office in the report prepared to submit to the PAC has pointed at 14 mistakes by the NAC in the procurement process.
