Trade deficit of the country's main customs point Birgunj customs office in the first six months of the current fiscal has reached Rs 182 billion. In this period, goods equivalent to Rs 188 billion was imported via the point while export was of Rs 5.72 billion, according to Office chief Sewantak Pokhrel.
Not only of the office, but the country's trade deficit with India and other third countries is ballooning day by day, showing a chart of a huge gap between in the country's import and export trade.
Nepal mainly exports 150 types of goods including juice, jam, Ayurvedic medicines, fiber, tooth and iron pipe to India and other third countries while the import business includes more than 3,000 types of goods, the Office said.
