The resumption of flight service– which was the agenda of the heated elections here – is likely to be materialized soon.
Flight service to and from Tarigaun airport would come into operation again tentatively from January 7. Every week two flights will take off in collaboration with a private air company. The agreement was made possible after long discussion and groundwork.
The flight service is to be resumed after Mayor of Tulsipur Sub-metropolis Ghanashyam Pandey and Summit Air CEO Manoj Karki signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Kathmandu on Thursday to that effect.
According to the agreement, flight service would be available twice a week on Sunday and Friday. As per the Memorandum of Understanding, there would be the direct flight from Tulsipur to Kathmandu.
"The MoU was signed in a way to carry 16 passengers from Kathmandu to Dang and 18 from Dang to Kathmandu", Pandey shared.
For now, the airfare for Dang-Kathmandu is Rs 6,600 and Kathmandu-Dang Rs 7,000. It may be reduced once there will be daily flight service.
The airport was constructed in 2016 BS.
