The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Rastra, Rastriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti Tatha Nagarik Bachau Maha Abhiyan, on bail.
A bench of Judge Umesh Prasad Luintel ordered Prasai’s release on bail of Rs 200,000, according to the court’s information officer, Shiva Prasad Khatiwada.
A case had been filed against Prasai under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2006, accusing him of committing an offense under the law.
Prasai was arrested and prosecuted over comments he recently made about Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Rachana Khatiwada.
Prasai has repeatedly been arrested on various charges, including cybercrime, offenses against public peace, and election-related offenses, and released following court orders. He has been arrested more than a dozen times.
