10 missing after avalanche hits Himlung Himal in Manang

Kathmandu, Sept 27

An avalanche has occurred on Himlung Himal in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality-5 of Manang district.

The avalanche occurred on Sunday morning.

Nine climbers had gone to the mountain for an expedition, accompanied by 13 climbing support staff.

Around 10 of them are currently missing. All of those reported missing are Nepali citizens.

A helicopter has flown from Kathmandu toward Manang to assist in the rescue operation.

The extent of damage caused by the avalanche has not yet been confirmed.

Armed Police Force Deputy Superintendent of Police and co-spokesperson Shailendra Thapa said that further details about the incident are still awaited.
