A landslide along the Dhulikhel-Khawa road section has completely blocked the road.
The landslide, carrying rocks and soil from above, occurred on Sunday morning in the Zipline area of Dhulikhel Municipality-8, blocking the road.
According to the District Police Office, Kavrepalanchowk, the road has been completely closed in both directions due to the landslide.
Police said that long- and short-distance vehicles and passengers traveling from Kathmandu toward Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, and the Tatopani border point have been stranded on the road following the obstruction.
Police and local residents are working to clear the landslide and reopen the road.
However, police estimate that it will take some time to resume traffic because of the large volume of dry soil and rocks blocking the road, as well as the continuing difficult conditions.
Passengers traveling through the area have been left stranded after the landslide brought transport services to a halt. Police have urged passengers and drivers using this road section to exercise extreme caution.
