Kali Gandaki flood enters settlement, sweeps away 25 houses in Parbat

Butwal, Sept 27

Floodwaters from the Kali Gandaki River have swept away 25 houses after the river inundated a settlement in Parbat district.

The Kaligandaki River flooded the settlement in Pharse, Jaljala Rural Municipality-8, at around 8 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the District Police Office, Parbat, 25 of the 80 houses in the settlement were swept away by the flood.

The remaining houses are also at risk.

No human casualties have been reported from the flood. All residents of the settlement have been evacuated to safer locations.

Police teams have not yet been able to reach the site because landslides have blocked the route.

The affected area lies approximately six kilometers east of the Milan Chowk Police Post in Parbat.

Police said that further details of the incident are awaited.
