Flood damages hydropower projects in Rasuwa

The flood that struck Rasuwa on Wednesday morning has damaged operating and under-construction hydropower projects in the district.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), damage has been reported at the Rasuwagadhi, Chilime, Trishuli 3A, Trishuli 3B Hub 230 kV station, Trishuli, and Devghat hydropower facilities.

Rasuwa is home to the 22.1 MW Chilime Hydropower Project, 111 MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project, 60 MW Trishuli A Hydropower Project, and 120 MW Rasuwa Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project.

Chilime Hydropower and Rasuwagadhi Hydropower are also companies listed on the stock market.

Following the damage to the projects caused by the flood, hydropower stocks fell sharply in the share market. The hydropower sub-index declined by as much as 79 points.
