One woman injured in a vehicle accident in Makawanpur has died.
The accident occurred at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday in Jurikhet, Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6, Makawanpur.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Kafle of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, the injured woman died during treatment.
The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Laxmi Badu. She is the wife of Tara Datta Badu, registrar at the Birgunj bench of the Janakpur High Court.
She had sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted to Chhauni Hospital in Kathmandu by a Nepal Army helicopter for treatment. DSP Kafle said that she died during treatment at around 10:30 a.m.
The vehicle, bearing registration number Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183, was traveling from Kathmandu to Birgunj when it fell about 50 meters off the road.
Six people, including Gokarna Dangi, a judge at the Birgunj bench, were traveling in the vehicle.
Registrar Badu and the driver, Chhunilal Chaudhary, are receiving treatment at Hetauda Hospital.
Judge Dangi, registrar Badu’s wife Laxmi, and their son Ritendra and daughter Rita were airlifted to Kathmandu. Laxmi died during treatment, while the judge and the others continue to receive medical care.
