One more person has died from injuries sustained during last week’s violence in Sunsari.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushpa Raj Malla of the District Police Office, Sunsari, 22-year-old Rabindra Mehta of Dewangunj Rural Municipality-1 died at around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
Mehta had been injured by gunfire from security personnel following clashes between two groups on July 26.
With his death, the number of people killed in the violence in Koshi and Madhesh provinces has risen to four.
Earlier, Jay Prakash Mehta and Om Prakash Mehta died in Sunsari, while Ganesh Yadav died in Siraha. The government has already reached agreements with the families of all three victims.
Security agencies are coordinating among themselves in view of potential tensions following the latest death.
