The identity of the third person who went missing after a car plunged into the Sunkoshi River in Sindhuli has been confirmed.
The car, with registration number Province 3-01-024 Cha 9573, veered off the Mid-Hills Highway at Nawalpur in Phikkal Rural Municipality-2 at around 11:45 a.m. on Monday, leaving its three occupants missing.
While the identities of two of the missing individuals had already been established, the third remained unidentified until Tuesday.
According to the District Police Office, Sindhuli, the third missing person has been identified as 17-year-old Sujan Balampaki Magar of Dandakharka, Tinpatan Rural Municipality-9.
The car was being driven by 39-year-old Dil Kumar Lama of Jugal Rural Municipality-7. Lama is a former ward chairman of Jugal-7 and also a CPN-UML leader. He was lately involved in construction business.
The third occupant was 28-year-old Ganesh Thapa of Golanjor Rural Municipality-1. All three remain missing.
The accident occurred after a bus (registration number Ba Pra 08-001 Kha 0144), driven by Hem Bahadur Tamang, collided with the car, causing it to plunge into the Sunkoshi River. Police have taken Tamang into custody.
Search for the three missing individuals is ongoing, with teams from Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force continuing the rescue effort.
