The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested Pushpa Raj Bhattarai, a joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Anupam Shumsher JB Rana, the CIB arrested Bhattarai on Monday from Kageshwari Manohara in Kathmandu.

Bhattarai faces charges under the Passport Act.

"He is accused of issuing a travel document to a person who was not legally eligible to receive one," SSP JB Rana said.
