Businessman Shekhar Golchha has been released on bail.
On Tuesday, a bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Pratima Kumari Bhattarai Pokharel ordered Golchha’s release on bail, said Shiva Khatiwada, the court’s spokesperson.
According to Khatiwada, Golchha was ordered to deposit bail of Rs 7.5 million for insurance-related offenses and Rs 2.5 million for securities-related offenses.
He was released after submitting a bank guarantee worth Rs 10 million.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police had taken him into custody on April 23.
Golchha was arrested for offenses under the Securities Act, 2006.
He was detained for investigation after authorities found a possible link between Golchha and the business transactions of controversial businessman Deepak Bhatta, who was already in custody in connection with a money laundering investigation.
