Dr Govinda KC began a hunger strike on Thursday, saying that the government had failed to fulfill the demands he had raised.
He began the hunger strike at the Krishna Mandir Dharmashala in Dhangadhi on Thursday afternoon.
Dr KC is on hunger strike to pressure the government to address his demands.
He had presented a five-point set of demands and given the government an ultimatum to fulfill them by July 21.
His demands include an end to political interference in appointments to bodies including the Medical Education Commission and Dasharath Chand University.
Dr KC has also demanded that the government not move ahead with proposals to increase the number of seats at private medical colleges that do not meet the required standards. He has further called for medical education to be made non-profit.
Dr KC has also demanded that student scholarships not be cut through the Medical Education Commission. He has also called on the government to implement agreements reached with him during his previous hunger strikes.
