The government has decided to form a team to hold talks with victims of loan sharking.
A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to form a talks team under the leadership of Pushkar Sapkota, secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
According to government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel, joint secretaries from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration will serve as members of the team.
On July 9, victims of loan sharking began a “Justice March Against Loan Sharking” from Janakpurdham to Kathmandu.
After walking for four days, they reached Nijgadh in Bara, where Home Minister Sudan Gurung met and held talks with them. As multiple rounds of talks held over the past three days failed to yield results, the victims’ delegation is traveling to Kathmandu on Thursday.
The victims have also formed a six-member team to hold negotiations with the government.
