The Special Court has granted permission to keep CPN-UML Vice-chairman Bishnu Paudel, who was arrested in connection with a money laundering investigation, in custody for an additional three days.
The court extended Paudel’s remand for the fifth time on Monday to allow for further investigation into the accused.
The Department of Money Laundering Investigation had presented Paudel before the court for a remand extension, stating that the investigation had not yet been concluded.
The court administration said that a bench of Judges Narayan Prasad Paudel and Umesh Koirala issued the order for a three-day extension for investigative purposes.
The department is investigating him on charges of illegally acquiring property and laundering said assets.
