The government is preparing to launch its “Blue Bus” service in the Kathmandu Valley, with eight buses set to begin operations on July 17 in the first phase.
This initiative is part of the government’s 100-point agenda for governance reforms, aimed at ensuring safe mobility for women by operating free bus services across all seven provinces.
According to Ramhari Pokharel, spokesperson for the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, 25 Blue Buses will be deployed within the first 100 days.
Sajha Yatayat has written to the Ministry of Finance seeking feedback regarding the operation of the bus service.
The bus service will begin on July 17 after receiving the ministry's consent.
In the initial phase, two buses each will operate on the Lagankhel–Budhanilkantha route and the Thankot–Nagdhunga–Tribhuvan International Airport route.
According to the ministry, an additional four buses will operate along the Ring Road, with two running clockwise and two running anti-clockwise.
