The Special Court has granted permission to keep four defendants in custody for an additional five days for investigation into alleged irregularities in passport printing.
A bench of Special Court Judges Narayan Prasad Paudel and Umesh Koirala granted the second five-day remand extension for the investigation.
According to the Special Court administration, the defendants whose remand has been extended are Tirtha Raj Aryal, Sunil Kumar KC, Tulsi Prasad Acharya, and Manindra Malla. Aryal is the director general of the Department of Passports.
The court granted the extension as requested by the investigating officers, citing that the collection of additional evidence and the detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities in passport printing have not yet been completed.
The relevant authorities are continuing their investigation while the individuals remain in custody.
