The Central Zoo in Jawalakhel has been closed indefinitely following the detection of bird flu.
In a notice issued on Friday, the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) announced that the zoo would remain closed until further notice.
"As bird flu infection has been detected among animals within the Central Zoo premises, we would like to inform everyone that, considering the health and safety of the general public, the zoo has been closed from June 19 until the publication of another notice," the NTNC said in the notice.
The notice did not disclose which animals were found to have been infected.
