Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Rastra, Rastriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti Tatha Nagarik Bachau Maha Abhiyan, is set to be released on general recognizance.
On Tuesday, a bench of Judge Gayatri Prasad Regmi at the Parsa District Court ordered Prasai's release on general recognizance.
On Monday, the District Government Attorney's Office in Parsa had filed a case against him on charges of offenses against the state and offenses under the Electronic Transactions Act.
Previously, on May 22, a bench of Supreme Court Justices Binod Sharma and Nityananda Pandeya had ordered the police not to seek further extensions to keep Prasai in custody. The apex court had instructed authorities to file a case if the investigation against him was completed, or release him and proceed with any necessary legal action.
Police had arrested Prasai on May 18. His custody was initially extended for three days on May 19, and for an additional four days on May 21.
Police have repeatedly arrested Prasai over statements and public remarks he has made.
