The government has declared a public holiday on May 28 on the occasion of Bakar Eid (Eid al-Adha).
Issuing a statement on Friday, Joint Secretary Ananda Kafle, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that Thursday, May 28, will be a public holiday.
The government had already announced through the national gazette on March 2 that a holiday would be granted for Bakar Eid.
Accordingly, the holiday was declared after the Muslim Commission informed the government that Eid al-Adha falls on May 28 this year.
Furthermore, May 29 is also a public holiday on the occasion of Republic Day. With Saturday and Sunday following right after, there will be four consecutive public holidays.
