SC issues show-cause order on Durga Prasai’s habeas corpus petition

The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order in the habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Rastra, Rastriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti Tatha Nagarik Bachau Maha Abhiyan.

On Tuesday, a bench of Justice Mahesh Sharma Paudel ordered the defendants to submit a written response through the Office of the Attorney General within 24 hours, excluding travel time.

The habeas corpus petition was filed at the Supreme Court by advocate Ashish Luitel on behalf of Prasai.

The District Police Office, Parsa, had arrested Prasai from Birgunj on Monday evening for investigation under the Electronic Transactions Act and offenses against the state.

The Supreme Court has also directed the Office of the Attorney General to present the investigation file related to the case.
