One person has been sent to judicial custody on charges of hacking the website of the government's Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) and manipulating contract bid rates.
A bench of Judge Churaman Khadka of the Kathmandu District Court ordered the detention of Diwakar Deuja, a computer operator working at the Intensive Urban and Building Construction Project in Dhankuta, pending trial.
The court demanded a bail amount of Rs 1 million from his associate, Bhaskar Raj Aryal.
Meanwhile, the court ordered the release of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Bikram Pandey on a bail of Rs 400,000.
It also ordered the release of other defendants on bail. Among them, it sought a bail amount of Rs 1 million from Sanjay Bhatta; Rs 500,000 each from Jeevan Kumar Das and Sagar Katuwal; and Rs 400,000 each from Prakash Dhungana, Amrit Bohara, Anil Shrestha, Tanka Kumar Shrestha, Swadesh Pokharel, and Rishikesh Gauli.
