Ashish Shrestha, chairman of Nepal Micro Insurance Company Limited, has been arrested on charges of involvement in insurance-related offenses.
Shrestha, 46, was apprehended on Tuesday in Kageshwari Manahara Municipality-5, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Shiva Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson for the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
The police initiated investigation after receiving a letter dated April 21 from the Nepal Insurance Authority in Kupondol, Lalitpur, and an emergency field inspection report. The report alleged that the company and its leadership had committed offenses under Section 140(10)(g) of the Insurance Act, 2022.
Police said that further investigation into Shrestha is currently underway.
