The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested Bikram Pandey, a leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and a former minister.
According to Additional Inspector General Manoj Kumar KC, he was arrested on Friday evening.
Police said that Pandey, who is also the owner of Kalika Construction, was found to have altered documents during the bidding process to secure a contract.
“He has been arrested on charges of hacking the e-bidding website,” he said.
On December 7, 2018, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a case at the Special Court against former minister Pandey and 20 others, concluding that corruption had occurred in the construction of the Sikta Irrigation Project canal, a national pride project.
At that time, Pandey was released after posting a bail amount of Rs 40 million.
