Mahiman Singh Bista, a former section officer at the Supreme Court, has been found guilty of issuing an unauthorized letter.
On Sunday, a bench of Judge Khimananda Bhusal at the Kathmandu District Court convicted Bista, according to the court’s information officer, Deepak Kumar Shrestha.
A separate hearing will be scheduled to determine the sentence.
While serving at the Supreme Court, Bista had issued an unauthorized letter. Based on that letter, police arrested Resham Lal Chaudhary, patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal.
However, shortly after the arrest, it was revealed that the letter was unauthorized.
The Supreme Court administration itself requested an investigation, confirming that the letter was unauthorized.
Bista was taken into custody and investigated for document-related offenses. He was later released on a bail of Rs 100,000 pending trial.
