Out of the 12 people who lost their lives in Tuesday’s bus accident in Ramechhap district, 11 have been identified.
A bus traveling to Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu along the Manthali-Khurkot Pushpalal Highway met with an accident at 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Araniko Yatayat bus (registration number Pra-3-001-05 Kha 9975) plunged into the Tamakoshi River at Triveni Ghat.
According to Chief District Officer (CDO) Shyam Krishna Thapa, 11 victims have been identified, while one remains to be identified.
Among the 12 deceased, seven are men and five women. CDO Thapa said that their bodies are currently kept at Manthali Hospital.
The deceased include Bobby Tamang (25) of Bhimeshwar-7, Dolakha; Man Bahadur Tamang (60) of Bhimeshwar-8, Dolakha; Dipesh Basnet (28) and Dipendra Basnet (25) of Likhu-4, Ramechhap; Sanumaya Tamang, Tara Tamang (31), Bhim Bahadur Tamang (36), and Ramita Tamang (16) of Likhu-7, Ramechhap;
The other deceased have been identified as Mankumari Baruwal (45) of Likhu-6, Ramechhap; Bishal Sunuwar (24) of Upakunda-6; and Shiva Shrestha (34) of Golanjor-6, Sindhuli.
A man approximately 50 years old is yet to be identified.
Eight people were injured in the accident. Among them, five are men and three women.
Police have taken the bus driver, 31-year-old Sushant Thapa Magar of Manthali-11, into custody. He sustained minor injuries in the accident. The other seven injured passengers have been brought to Kathmandu for further treatment.
