A clash has broken out between the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel and a group of smugglers in Parsa.
According to APF Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa, the smugglers launched an attack while security forces were conducting a raid on a warehouse located in Birgunj Metropolitan City-10. Three APF personnel were injured during the incident.
DSP Thapa informed that a joint team from the APFl No. 13 Battalion Parsa, the Border Security Outpost Birgunj, and the Birgunj Customs Office had been deployed on Monday to seize illegally stored clothing from a warehouse in the house of one Madan Prasad Gupta, located in Adarshnagar, Birgunj. The smuggling group turned violent and attacked the team after the clothes were recovered.
The smugglers pelted stones at the security forces causing damage to an APF mini truck and another vehicle. DSP Thapa further stated that clothing worth over Rs 700,000 was seized from the warehouse. The recovered goods are to be handed over to the relevant authorities.
