Police have arrested eight individuals on charges of betting in the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL).
According to Superintendent of Police Kaji Kumar Acharya, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested the eight suspects.
They are accused of conducting betting activities through a betting site called Betacular.
All those arrested are Indian nationals. They are originally from Andhra Pradesh and had been living in Samakhushi, Kathmandu.
Those arrested are Raja Yadula, Mahesh Babu, Pandit Srinivasulu, Sheikh Shoaib, Navin Maddela, Mohammad Rafi Sheikh, Saikumar Tammishetty, and Sheikh Chand Basal.
Police arrested them after a technical investigation. A total of 15 mobile phones were also seized from them.
They have been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation.
