The Bhaktapur District Court has sentenced Ashika Tamang and another individual to five days in prison.
A bench of Judge Bishwanath Bhattarai sentenced Tamang and another person to five days in prison, said Hira Kumari Bhandari, the court’s information officer.
The court found Tamang and the other defendant, Sharan Tiruwa, guilty of criminal mischief.
Ashika and others were accused of obstructing the collection of fees at a suspension bridge built by Suryabinayak Municipality in Sanga and tearing notices put up by the local municipality.
Suryabinayak Municipality had filed a complaint with the police regarding the matter, accusing them of criminal mischief.
Tamang and Tiruwa were each sentenced to five days in prison in the case.
Additionally, they were ordered to pay a fine of Rs 500 each, Rs 8,300 each in compensation to the victim, and deposit Rs 200 each to the Victim Relief Fund.
Tamang had expressed regret over the incident at the Sanga suspension bridge before the police, government attorney, and the court.
