An arrest warrant has been issued for journalist Dil Bhusan Pathak.
A source at the Nepal Police Headquarters said that the Cyber Bureau has obtained permission from the Kathmandu District Court to arrest Pathak.
The arrest warrant has been issued for Pathak for offenses under the Electronic Transactions Act, the source said.
Three weeks ago, Pathak broadcast a video report on Hilton Hotel and Jaybir Deuba, son of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, on his YouTube channel “Tough Talk with Dil Bhusan Pathak”.
The video, titled “Reality of Hilton Hotel and Jaybir Connection,” was published on May 16.
According to the source, the Cyber Bureau obtained the arrest warrant following a complaint about the video.
“It’s related to the video broadcast about Hilton. The arrest warrant was issued against him yesterday. The YouTube channel that broadcast the video has also not been registered,” a senior police official told Setopati.
The Cyber Bureau has not commented on the matter yet.
“So far, we have not received anything on this matter,” Superintendent of Police Deepak Raj Awasthi, the bureau’s spokesperson, said.
