A significant quantity of gold has been recovered in Rasuwa district.
Rasuwa’s Chief District Officer Arjun Paudel told Setopati that the gold was recovered on Sunday.
“The seized gold has been sent to customs,” he said, adding, “The exact quantity of the seized gold has yet to be determined.”
According to CDO Paudel, seven biscuits of gold were recovered.
The gold was recovered from a vehicle driver.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hem Bahadur Shahi of the District Police Office, Rasuwa, approximately 7.65 grams of a yellow metal resembling gold was seized.
“The metal has yet to be tested. We have recovered 7 kilograms and 653 grams of a yellow metal resembling gold. We have taken the driver into custody,” he said.
The vehicle, with the registration number Ba 4 Kha 6201, was heading to Kathmandu from Kerung when the police confiscated the gold at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The police have not yet disclosed the identity of the driver.
The police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
