The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order in a contempt of court case against former president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Shesh Ghale.
A bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Sunil Kumar Pokharel issued the show-cause order against Ghale on Sunday.
NRNA Vice-president Rojina Pradhan Rai, Secretary Radhika Gurung, and Joint Treasurer Krishna Prasad Timilsena had filed a contempt of court case against Ghale on April 27.
On August 6, 2024, the Supreme Court granted legitimacy to the executive committee elected by the 11th NRNA international general assembly held in Kathmandu from October 17 to 20, 2023.
However, Ghale, while chairing a high-level committee, issued a press statement on March 30, declaring the NRNA’s 11th general assembly as illegitimate.
The contempt case was then filed against Ghale, accusing him of making statements against the court’s decision through the press release.
