Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said the CPN led by Netra Bikram Chand detonated explosives at 21 places across the country on Friday including in front of the Ncell head office in Nakkhu, Lalitpur.
Speaking in the State Affairs Committee of the parliament on Sunday, Minister Thapa said 16 persons have been arrested for involvement in the explosions until now. "Explosives have been detonated at Ncell towers in all the provinces except Province 1. Conspiracy against the state is evident in all these incidents. Preliminary investigations show involvement of the Chand group," he added.
The committee had summoned Minister Thapa for discussion on the bill about citizenship. Lawmakers of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), Dila Sangraula Upadhyay and Devendra Raj Kandel, had sought answer about the incidents that are taking lives of the citizens before starting discussion on the citizenship bill.
Minister Thapa said the explosions have been carried out as per the latest decision of the Chand group to attack the government and run parallel government. He claimed that the attacks are part of the conspiracy to sabotage the investment summit scheduled for March 29 and 30.
He opined that such explosions have been carried out buoyed by impunity in such incidents in the past. "The government will now move forward preparing solid plans to counter such groups," he assured.
Chief of the people's government under the Chand group Santosh Budha Magar, meanwhile, claimed that the explosions have been carried out by the people. "I am in a program. The people may have carried out the explosions.
We will not comment on that," he stated refusing to comment on the explosion in front of Ncell head office in Nakkhu on Friday.
One person died and two more were injured in the explosion in front of the Ncell head office at Nakkhu Friday evening.
