The Education and Health Committee under the Federal Parliament has decided to set up a subcommittee to probe the problems facing the Rapti Academy of Health Sciences and furnish recommendations.
In a meeting held at chairmanship of Committee President Jayapuri Gharti here today formed the subcommittee comprising committee member and former Health Minister Khagaraj Adhikari as coordinator.
The subcommittee include lawmaker Anjana Bishankhe, Gajendra Bahadur Mahat, Ekal Miya and Nabita Chaudhary.
Established in 2059, Rapti District Hospital, the biggest hospital in Rapti zone, was the converted into Rapti Academy of Health Sciences in 2018.
The Hospital was a specialized health facility for 2.2 million population of Rapti zone. The staffers here were in protest recently.
The subcommittee has been mandated to study the issues prevailing the Academy and furnish recommendation within 15 days.
In today's meeting, Committee member Yogesh Bhattarai demanded an Integrated Health Academy to regulate all the Health Academies in the country. He also urged the Ministry of Health and Population to take special measures to resolve the issue in Rapti Academy of Health Sciences.
Members of the Committee Umesh Shrestha and Umakanta Chaudhary demanded the appointment of Vice-Chancellor in the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) which has been vacant for five months.
