A Nepal Army (NA) soldier deployed in the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has been shot reportedly by the national army there.
The soldier with the Shree Siddhabaks Battalion deployed in South Sudan has been shot on his ankle on September 15, 2018, the NA stated issuing a press statement.
He was shot when returning from a daily patrol to transport water for the company operating base of NA at Yei. He has been transferred to capital of South Sudan Juba and is undergoing treatment there, according to the statement. He is currently out of danger.
"It is understood that the bullet was fired by a soldier of the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA)," the statement adds.
The SPLA, formerly a guerilla force that fought for independence of South Sudan from Sudan, is the national army of South Sudan since its independence.
