Nepali Congress leader Nain Singh Mahar has filed his candidacy for the post of general secretary.
Mahar registered his candidacy at the party’s 15th general convention after the nomination process opened at the Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
He said that he had been preparing to contest for the post of general secretary for the past three years.
Mahar said that he was contesting not at the request of any faction but based on his own decision and political plan.
He said that his main objective is to bring together the various divided factions within the Nepali Congress and strengthen the party.
