Home Minister Sudan Gurung has said that those who betray trust by leaking confidentiality will not be spared, following the suspension of Additional Inspector General Banshi Raj Dahal of the Armed Police Force (APF).
The Home Ministry suspended AIG Dahal on Monday evening on charges of leaking confidential information. A committee has also been formed to investigate him regarding the matter.
Referring to the suspension, Home Minister Gurung wrote on social media: "Whoever they may be, anyone who knowingly betrays the country and the organization by compromising the confidentiality entrusted to them by the state will not receive any immunity and will be brought before the law."
He also said that the tendency to leak confidential information had been observed for a long time.
"For a long time, I have been closely observing the tendency among officials or employees holding responsibilities within the Ministry of Home Affairs or subordinate bodies to leak confidential or sensitive information to unauthorized individuals or entities, forgetting their official status," he wrote.
