Prime Minister Balendra Shah has urged lawmakers to contribute to the country’s development by making use of their areas of expertise.
During a meeting held on Wednesday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar with engineers serving as members of the House of Representatives, PM Shah urged them to focus more on long-term policies and new ideas rather than political issues.
“You yourselves are knowledgeable about technical subjects and are in a place where the country’s policies are formulated. Make maximum use of your knowledge, skills, and experience for the development of the country,” PM Shah said.
He also suggested that lawmakers give priority not only to party politics but also to their technical expertise and professional identities.
The prime minister said that it was natural for lawmakers to be active in party politics during elections and other political activities, but urged them to focus on technical matters at other times for the country’s development.
During the discussion, PM Shah described the participating lawmakers as “extraordinary” people and said that “extraordinary” individuals never focus on events or personalities.
He said that since extraordinary people always discuss and work on new ideas, the country will be built in five years.
Those present at the discussion included Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal, PM Shah’s political advisor Asim Shah, and lawmakers Tapeshwar Yadav, Jagadish Kharel (Dolakha), Ashish Gajurel, Ujjwal Kumar Jha, Arvind Shah, Dharma Raj KC, Shriram Neupane, Sagar Dhakal, Sushil Khadka, and Ram Lama.
