Sharma received 638 votes in the election under the open category.
There were 710 voters registered for the election of general convention delegates in Jhapa-1, with Sharma emerging as the candidate with the highest number of votes.
Along with Sharma, Keshav Raj Pandey, Narayan Giri, Bhupu Rai, Arjun Rai, Prem Sambahangphe, Gopal Tamang, Pushpa Raj Paudel, Tek Bahadur Limbu, and Lokraj Dhakal were (Elected) under the open category.
