The Nepali Congress is preparing to postpone its 15th general convention, which is scheduled to begin on October 2, by a few days.
A senior party source said that the general convention is being considered for postponement by three days to a week in view of the adverse weather conditions.
“Rain over the past few days has once again caused flooding and landslides in various parts of the country,” a Nepali Congress office-bearer told Setopati. “Taking that into consideration, preparations are underway to postpone the inauguration date by three days to a week.”
According to the office-bearer, constituency-level conventions in several districts have been affected by the unfavorable weather. Discussions have therefore begun on postponing the general convention by a few days, the official said.
“A decision on this will be taken after a meeting at the party office on Tuesday morning,” he said.
As preparations are underway to postpone the general convention, which was scheduled to begin at Bhrikuti Mandap on October 2, the Nepali Congress headquarters in Sanepa has booked the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s assembly hall for October 5.
